This website was created for children and adults to learn about the author/illustrator, Diane Kress Hower.

Diane loves to write and illustrate children's books. She currently lives in the Pacific North West.  In addition to her writing and illustration, she works part-time as a counselor and as a consultant.   She has been helping to support children in school for over sixteen years.

Diane works with a furry partner, Stanley.  A certified therapy dog, Stanley was trained by Diane.  He loves to work with kids and is a Read-Aloud dog at the local library.  He has his own website.

In childhood, Diane was an outdoors girl, a tomboy.  She spent a great deal of time outside or dreaming of being out-of-doors.  Her teachers use to phone her mom to complain about Diane staring of out the window!  Yet, she never got in trouble for dreaming. The summers of her childhood were spent camping with her grandpa.  She explored rivers, creeks, lakes, and ponds.

Art is a big part of Diane’s life.  At age four she started taking photographs and working in her grandfathers' darkroom.  By age 10, her older sister had introduced Diane and her long blonde hair to oil paints!

Diane has worked with kids as a lifeguard, city park supervisor, mother, art teacher, art therapist, child development specialist, and as a counselor.  Kids are one of her greatest passions.  School is a great place to hang out with kids.  Diane believes kids are the future.
